前田耕平 個展「点る山、麓の座」

自らの身体的な体験を軸として、自然と人にまつわる物事の関係や距離について観測し、その曖昧な領域に接触しようとするアーティスト・前田耕平による、変化し続けるワークインプログレス形式の個展を開催します。今回、国際芸術センター青森のある八甲田の麓（ふもと）を中心に、冬へと向かう青森を様々な側面からフィールドワークしている前田は、この地に所在する生命の灯（それは雪の下で冬眠する動物だったり、古代から人類が行ってきた火起こしだったりする）なる点を浮かび上がらせ、それらを巨大な山の神様の足ツボとしてマッピングしようとしています。無数の点が描かれ、溢れた光で熱をおびる時、私たちはきっと、いま・ここでしか成立し得ない体験をすることになるでしょう。

    MAEDA Kohei

    1991年和歌山生まれ、大阪拠点。2017年京都市立芸術大学大学院美術研究科絵画専攻構想設計修了。人や自然、物事との関係や距離に興味を向けて、自身の体験を手がかりに、映像やパフォーマンスなど様々なアプローチによる探求の旅を続けている。主な活動として、2019年 個展「パンガシアノドン ギガス」（京都市立芸術大学ギャラリー @KCUA、京都）、2021年「紀南アートウィーク2021」（南方熊楠顕彰館、和歌山）、2021年「群馬青年ビエンナーレ2021」（群馬県立近代美術館、群馬）などがある。

ACAC is pleased to present a solo exhibition in a work-in-progress format by MAEDA Kohei who observes the relationship and distance between things related to nature and people based on his own physical experiences, and attempts to make contact with its ambiguous zone. Maeda has been conducting fieldwork in various aspects of Aomori as it heads into winter, focusing on the foothills of Mt. Hakkoda where the ACAC is located. Through his fieldwork, Maeda is trying to lit the lights of life (being they animals hibernating under the snow or ancient human fire starters, etc.) that are located here. And then he is attempting to map these points as the foot points of a giant mountain god. When countless dots are drawn and heated by the overflowing light, we will surely have an experience that is only possible in the here and now.

  • MAEDA Kohei

    Born in Wakayama in 1991 and based in Osaka. Completed a master’s degree in Concept and Media Planning, Department of Painting, Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts in 2017. Interested in people, nature, relations and distance between things and matters, he continues his exploratory journey based on his experiences through different approaches such as video art and performances. His exhibitions include solo exhibition “Pangasianodon gigas” (Kyoto City University of Arts Gallery, Kyoto) in 2019, group show “Kinan Art Week 2021” (Minakata Kumagusu Kenshokan, Wakayama) in 2021 and “Gunma Seinen Biennale 2021” (The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma) in 2021.
