Born in 1934 in Aomori City, Kudo moved from his childhood home in Mizusawa, Iwate to Ehime Prefecture in 1957, and began working at the Baizan-gama pottery. Later in his life, he created the arabesque design, the pattern now known as the signature of Tobeyaki-ware. Kudo opened Shunju-pottery workshop in 1974. He passed away in 2019.
