ACACでは、長期間にわたりACACで制作活動を行う青森ゆかりのアーティストを募集する「スタジオアーティスト公募」を実施しました。厳正な審査の結果、青森県平川市を拠点に活動する滝川真紀子氏をスタジオアーティストとして採択することとなりました。スタジオアーティストとしての活動は既に始まっており、来年3月まで継続する予定です。

本公募には11件の応募が寄せられました。応募いただいたみなさまに深く感謝申し上げます。

滝川真紀子

青森県平川市を拠点に活動する造形作家。植物、布、紙、木、石など身の回りの素材を用い、「縫う・結ぶ・重ねる」といった行為を通して、インスタレーション、立体、平面作品を制作している。

制作は、場所に宿る記憶や時間の痕跡に着目し、その土地に由来する古材や布、植物などを用いて行う。素材に残る気配を手がかりに、異なる関係を結び直すことで、過去と現在が静かに重なり合う空間の立ち上がりを試みている。

近年の活動に、「自然との対話 滝川真紀子展」（gCRADLE、青森市、2025）、「アトリエシリーズvol.3 滝川真紀子―stitch map 展」（西脇市岡之山美術館、西脇市、2025）、「SHOWCASE vol.2：Hokkaido/ Tohoku by ArtSticker」（アートかビーフンか白厨、六本木、2025)、　「第4回タガワアートビエンナーレ『英展』（田川市美術館、田川市、2024）など。

「RIGHT BOX」

道路工事現場に放置されていた木箱を収集し、再構成したインスタレーション。本来の役割を終えた素材を、時間や記憶を宿す装置へと転換する試みである。箱の内部に灯した光により、都市に潜在する風景や気配を浮かび上がらせた。本作は、素材の意味を転換するという、その後の制作の出発点となっている。

過去の作品の断片や古布、織物などを糸で縫い合わせて構成する平面作品。箱型の立体作品を展開し、平面に再構成する過程から生まれ、俯瞰的に町を見下ろすような感覚から「stitch map」と名づけている。町は、人々の営みが重なり合って形成される集合体であり、そこには暮らしの痕跡や時間の層が刻まれている。素材を縫い重ねることで、それらの記憶や風土、生活の手触りを画面に留め、鑑賞者の中に小さな風景が立ち上がることを目指している。

This spring, ACAC held an open call for the Studio Artist, inviting artists with connections to Aomori who wish to undertake a long period of artistic practice at ACAC. Following a rigorous selection process, Makiko Takikawa, an artist based in Hirakawa City, Aomori, has been selected as this year’s Studio Artist.

Her residency has already begun and will continue through March 2027.

A total of 11 applications were received for this open call. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who applied.

Makiko Takikawa

Makiko Takikawa is a visual artist based in Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture. Working with everyday materials such as plants, fabric, paper, wood, and stone, she creates installations, sculptures, and two-dimensional works through acts of “stitching, tying, and layering”.

Her practice focuses on the memories and traces of time embedded within places. Drawing on reclaimed wood, textiles, plants, and other materials connected to a specific site, she explores the subtle presence retained within these materials. By reconfiguring their relationships, she seeks to create spaces where past and present quietly overlap.

This installation was created by collecting and reconstructing wooden crates that had been abandoned at a road construction site. It transforms materials that had fulfilled their original function into vessels that carry memories and the passage of time. Light placed inside the boxes revealed the hidden landscapes and subtle atmospheres embedded within the city. This work marked the starting point of Takikawa’s continuing exploration of transforming the meanings and associations of materials.

This two-dimensional series is composed by stitching together fragments of earlier works, vintage textiles, woven fabrics, and other materials. The series grew out of the process of unfolding her box-shaped sculptural works and reconstructing them into flat compositions. The title, Stitch Map, reflects the sensation of looking down upon a town from above.

For Takikawa, a town is a collective entity shaped by the accumulated lives of its inhabitants, where traces of everyday life and layers of time are embedded. By stitching together diverse materials, she preserves these memories, local histories, and tactile qualities of lived experience within the picture plane, inviting viewers to discover intimate landscapes that emerge through the work.
