The Thai artist Atittayaporn SAENPO is currently in residence at ACAC for the Artist in Residence Program 2025 “CAMP”. While staying in Aomori, she has been busy creating a wide range of works, such as sculptures made of plastic bottles that shine like decorated trucks, performing in rice fields, and producing horror-like videos. She was born and raised in the Isan region of northeastern Thailand, an area that borders Laos and Cambodia and possesses a culture slightly different from that of central Thailand, including Bangkok.

“Thai Night with Atittayaporn☆彡” is a special event where you can enjoy the authentic flavors of her hometown. Isan cuisine is famous for dishes like the irresistibly crunchy deep-fried grasshoppers, which is a key dish that served as a significant origin for the artwork she is creating during her ACAC residency, as well as som tam (spicy green papaya salad), and larb (minced meat tossed with fish sauce, lime, and mint).

For this special occasion, we are collaborating with Sumibi Marufuku, a hidden gem in Koubata, to offer a one-day-only menu of Isaan dishes. Whether you’re a regular customer or visiting for the first time, please feel free to come and join us!
