松本美枝子は、2021年5月から約1年間の延べ3ヶ月のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスプログラムで青森県内でのリサーチを重ね、青森の土地や歴史を再考してきました。
出会った人々のものの見方にも触れながら、青森の風景のなかに、厳しい自然の力、あるいは戦争や産業の痕跡などに代表される人為、浮遊する霊魂といった日常に隠れた、しかし確かに生活の基盤をつくり、現代の私たちと繋がる事象を見つけてきました。
本展では、それらを反映した新作インスタレーション作品を発表します。また関連イベントを通して、さらに具に青森をみることで本プログラムは締めくくられます。青森の風景をみることを通して「土地をまなざすこと」に向かい合う機会となれば幸いです。

    MATSUMOTO Mieko　

    写真家・美術家。1974年茨城生まれ。茨城とリオデジャネイロを拠点に活動。写真や映像、光、音、テクスト、パフォーマンスなど、さまざまなテクノロジーとメディアを横断しながら 、 知覚のあり方を問い直す試みを続ける。近年は自然環境と社会構造の関係についてリサーチを重ねて、地層、歴史、人間の移動などをテーマとした作品を制作する。並行して南米やヨーロッパでも撮影を行い、インスタントカメラ（instax）を用いた最新作では、風景の中にとどまる光を写しとるシリーズを展開している。
    主な展示に、個展「具（つぶさ）にみる」（国際芸術センター青森、2022年）、トーキョーアーツアンドスペースレジデンス2024 成果発表展「微粒子の呼吸」（トーキョーアーツアンドスペース本郷、2024年）。写真集に、写真詩集『生きる』（詩・谷川俊太郎、写真・松本美枝子）などがある。

Matsumoto Mieko has been conducting research in Aomori prefecture for a total of about a year starting in May 2021, including a three-months long residency, with the aim to reconsider the land and history of Aomori.
While coming into contact with the ways of seeing of the people she encountered, she also discerned phenomena in the landscapes of Aomori, which are hidden but undoubtedly form the foundations of daily life and which connect with us living in contemporary times, such as the harsh forces of nature, human induced phenomena as exemplified by traces of war and industry, and spirits that float in the air.
This exhibition showcases a new installation work that reflects this research. Related events that insist on delving deeper into Aomori will bring the program to a close. We hope that this will be an opportunity for visitors to take in the land of Aomori by looking at its landscapes.

    Photographer and artist. Born in 1974 in Ibaraki, Japan. Based between Ibaraki and Rio de Janeiro. Working across photography, video, light, sound, text, and performance, she explores and reexamines the conditions of perception through a diverse range of technologies and media. In recent years, her research has focused on the relationship between natural environments and social structures, producing works that take geological strata, history, and human migration as their themes. She also continues to photograph in South America and Europe, and in her latest series—shot with an instax instant camera—she captures the traces of light that linger within landscapes.

    Major exhibitions include the solo exhibition “Look Exhaustively ” (Aomori Contemporary Art Centre, 2022) and the TOKAS Creator-in-Residence 2024 Exhibition “Breathing Particles” (Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, 2024). Her publications include the photo-poetry book TO LIVE (poems by TANIKAWA Shuntaro, photographs by MATSUMOTO Mieko).
