Artist, Anthropologist. Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Aichi University of the Arts, Hirota was based in Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta) for 17 years from 1994. While there, she managed an alternative space and organized numerous exhibitions while being an artist. After returning to Japan, Hirota received her doctorate in Anthropology, in the study of Indonesian contemporary art, at Nagoya University’s Graduate School of Humanities（Anthropology Major）. She is currently an associate professor at the Professional Institute of International Fashion (PIIF). Her major exhibitions include “Exchange Project ’07: Memories of Asia” (Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, 2009). Her major publications include “A Network of Collaboration and Symbiosis: Ethnography of Indonesian Contemporary Art” (grambooks, 2022), and “Balito Yugakuki (Study Travel report in Bali)” (Sekaibunka Publishing, 1997).

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, 1991. MFA, Glasgow School of Art, 2020. Duffy uses objects, video and text to create spiralling narratives that explore the ethical and ecological concerns at stake when considering the porous relationship between bodies and material. Recent exhibitions and projects include “I can see your bones but I don’t know how to read them” (Eden Court, Scotland) in 2023, “This Meeting is Being Recorded” (Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival, Scotland) in 2022, and ”A Mineral Dance: Or How to Become Glass” with Lyth Arts Center and North Lands Creative (Scotland) in 2021.

Born in Okayama Prefecture in 1983 and based in Hiroshima. Completed the first half of her Ph.D. program at Graduate School of Arts, Hiroshima City University. She creates three-dimensional objects by reconstructing eraser shavings after rubbing out images on printed matter, and provides encounters with spirits residing in things and latent phenomena in daily life through the use of narratives generated from images. Her major solo exhibitions include “Happy Akuma (Demon) Festival” (Hiroshima Art Center, Japan) in 2021, “Romance Tumulus” (Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, Japan) in 2019, “Radierungen” (Micheko Galerie, Germany) in 2018. The awards she has won include grants for overseas study by young artists sponsored by Pola Art Foundation (and she studied in New York) in 2019, and the 6th Shiseido Art Egg Award in 2012.

Born in Malaysia, 1991. Low is a visual person, who expresses herself through photography, film and graphic media. Her architectural background is a major influence, her works observe the relationship between space, place and people, she enjoys different perspectives and takes time to understand and put things together into a bigger picture. Besides that, she also freelances as a producer and curator. Recent activities include “S.O.E 2023 ‘We Trade Everything’ art festival” (Thailand), “A Tale of Two Hills” (Malaysia) in 2023, “2022 Taiwan Dance Platform — Body Online: Screendance & Sound Exhibition” (Taiwan) in 2022, and “Di Situ: An Exhibition” (Malaysia) in 2020.

Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1993. Graduated from Printmaking Course, Department of Fine Arts, Kyoto Seika University in 2016. Completed his master’s degree in printmaking, Department of Painting, Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts in 2018. Currently based in Kyoto. In his works, he etches fluidity of natural things and magnificent passage of time in “lines” using the technique of copperplate engraving called drypoint. His recent activities include solo exhibition “Soft Landscape” (Enokojima Art, Culture and Creative Center, Japan) in 2023, “Elements” (Peter Augustus, U.S.) in 2022, and group exhibition “Trans-communicating” (New Mutation #5) (Kyoto Art Center, Japan) in 2023, “ON PAPER” (Taku Sometani Gallery, Japan) in 2023, “The 3rd PATinKyoto (Print Art Triennale in Kyoto) 2022″ (Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, Japan) in 2022.
