鯨類と人の絡まりの物語を集めるため、世界各地を旅している是恒さくら。今回は青森県内の伝説や伝承、信仰や近代化がもたらした鯨やイルカのイメージの変遷に着目し、作品制作を行っています。長年、青森県立郷土館に勤務し民俗学、船舶史を専門とする昆政明氏（神奈川大学特任教授）をお招きし、青森に流れ寄る物事を語り合います。また対談後は、是恒さくらの作品を一緒に鑑賞します。

    1986年広島県呉市生まれ。アラスカ先住民の狩猟生活やものづくりにはじまり、現在は捕鯨、漁労、海の民俗文化についてフィールドワークと採話を行い、リトルプレスや刺繍、造形作品として発表する。

    KON Masaaki

    1950年青森県生まれ。1973年法政大学地理学科を卒業後、青森県立郷土館学芸員。学芸課長として退職後、2011年から神奈川大学大学院歴史民俗資料学研究科特任教授。専門は民俗、民具学。

KORETSUNE Sakura travels around the world to collect stories of the entanglement of cetaceans and people. For this exhibition, she focuses on legends and folklore in Aomori Prefecture, as well as on the changing images of whales and dolphins brought about by religious beliefs and modernization. KON Masaaki, a longtime curator of the Aomori Prefectural Museum and a specialist in folklore and ship history (specially-appointed professor at Kanagawa University), will be invited to discuss the things that flow in and out of Aomori. After the talk, we will view the works of Koretsune Sakura together.

  • KORETSUNE Sakura

    Born in 1986 in Hiroshima’s Kure City, Koretsune took inspiration from the hunting and folkcraft of Alaskan natives for her earlier works. Her recent project centers around the research on whale hunting, fishing, and maritime folk culture, for which she utilizes fieldwork and interviews to create print-work like zine s, embroidery, and sculpture.
