Artist SUGAWARA Kaho has conducted extensive research on birds, documenting their behavior, habitats, and the relationships between nature and humans in her field notebooks.

In this workshop, participants will explore Sugawara’s approach to observation and documentation through encounters with birds, plants, and landscapes during Hakkoda Jomon Lab: Bus Tour on the previous day and a walk around ACAC. Using sketches, words, scents, and other sensory impressions, participants will create their own field notes while experimenting with ways of perceiving nature and the environment through their own perspectives.

No drawing experience or specialized knowledge is required. By paying close attention to the surrounding environment and recording observations in their own way, participants are encouraged to reflect on their individual ways of seeing and interpreting the world.
