Born in Akita Prefecture in 2000. Sugawara holds a master’s degree from the Department of Intermedia Art, Tokyo University of the Arts. Beginning from a personal fascination with birds, her artistic practice is based in fieldwork and research which focuses on the multilayered relationships found in avian environments. Since her high school days, Sugawara has dedicated herself to the observation and recording of birds. Her recent major projects include “ART SITE in NAGOYA CASTLE 2024” (2024; Nagoya Castle, Aichi) and “Hoshikage no tamoto, uta wa wataruru [Under a Starry Sky, a Song Wanders]” (2023; Araya NINO, Akita). Major awards include the Salon de Printemps Prize at the “74th Tokyo University of the Arts Graduation Works Exhibition” (2026), and the Art Evangelist Association Prize and EU-Japan Fest Prize at “3331 ART FAIR 2022” (2022).

Born in Aomori Prefecture in 1975. Nagaoka obtained a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University, and holds a doctorate in Medical Science. He is currently a professor at Aomori Public University, previously serving as an associate professor at St. Marianna University School of Medicine. Specializing in anthropology and anatomy, he conducts research in Peru and Japan. His main research themes concern the clarification of processes of social complexification and origins of conflict in ancient Andean societies. In recent years, he has been engaged in research on processes of human societal formational and human lifestyles, conducting archaeological excavations and surveys of ancient human remains in the ruins of Andean civilizations.

Born in Hokkaido in 1965. Miura completed the required doctoral coursework in Geography at Tokyo Metropolitan University and holds a Ph.D. in Science. He is currently a professor at Aomori Public University. His research fields include geology, and Quaternary science. He has conducted field research in Hokkaido, Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Himalayas. In recent years, his work has focused mainly on the northern Tohoku region of Japan, where he examines the formation and development of local natural environments and their connections to people’s lives across global spatial scales and over long geological time
scales.
