Born in 1982 in Kolkata, India, where he is currently based, DATTA graduated from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. As a clothing designer, his work reflects the complex interplay between clothing, viewer, and wearer in the form of fabric. The work focuses on the clothing practices of the NAWA (North Africa and West Asia) region, the Indian subcontinent, the Korean Peninsula, and Japan. In 2008, Datta launched his clothing brand “Kallol Datta 1955”, which is based on the idea of creating silhouettes by distorting traditional geometric patterns to create cocoon-like designs that cover and envelop the body. His major activities include the “Jameel Prize: Poetry to Politics” award and exhibition in 2021 (Victoria & Albert Museum, UK) and the “Swaddling to Shrouding” study group in 2017 (Experimenter Gallery Learning Program, India).

Born in Saitama, now based in Aomori, Japan​​. UCHIDA graduated from the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences [IAMAS]. Uchida is a conceptual performance artist and researcher who calls herself a “Bender” for the post-Internet era. She uses existing systems such as Amazon and YouTube in an approach that transforms the order of these circuits and questions the values and given usages that permeate our daily lives. Her major exhibitions and projects include “TRANS BOOKS DOWNLOADs” (online) from 2020 and “SICF19 Winners Exhibition” (Spiral Hall, Tokyo) in 2019. She also works as an “ordinary person unit” with designer SHIMIZU Hiroka.

Born in Aichi, Japan​, HOJO graduated from the Graduate School of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and the London College of Communication, MA Sound Arts. With experimental music and sound art at the core of her practice, she creates cross-disciplinary works through research. In recent years, she has focused on voices that have been silenced in history/archives, exploring their backgrounds, and imagining and re-creating what has not been recorded. Major activities include her solo exhibition as a composer at “Music From Japan Festival 2021” (Scandinavia House, USA), and the sound installation Whiff (Saitama Triennale 2020, Saitama) in 2020. She also works as “Hojo+Kraft” with Rahel KRAFT, a musician and artist from Switzerland.

Born in 1994 in Akita, now based in Kyoto, Japan, MURAKAMI completed a master’s course in sculpture at Kyoto City University of Arts. She creates and presents works that interact with the viewer, constructing exhibition spaces that both resist and embrace their erasure and disposal as important elements in her work. It becomes a “place of memory” where the experience is extended by focusing on the personal experiences and memories of herself and others. Her major exhibitions include: TENRI ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE in NARA “Going on a Journey to Listen to the Voice of Objects” (Art-Space TARN, Nara) in 2021 and “Pocket on the Road” (Kyoto City University of Arts Art Gallery @KCUA, Kyoto) in 2020.

Curator and producer. TANAKA started working on projects that defy categorization under the theme of “disability as a perspective that redefines the world.” Through projects dealing with expressions that have yet to be valued, she rethinks the way we view and perceive expressions together with people with disabilities and viewers. Her ongoing projects include the exhibition “Rules?” (21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, Tokyo), the exhibition “The Plurality of Narratives” (Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery, Tokyo), “Theatrical Words Created by Visual Language” (KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre, Kanagawa) from 2020 and “Audio Game Center” from 2017. She is the creator of the basic concept for the Japanese Pavilion at the Osaka Expo. Recent work includes the film Night Cruising in 2019, Dance Work in Progress with Sound (KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre) from 2017 until 2019, and the exhibition “The Great Everyday” (Borderless Art Museum NO-MA, Shiga) in 2017.
