松本美枝子は、身近な人の姿を通して、社会の風景やそれに揺り動かされる存在を表現してきました。近年では、土地の地質的・歴史的背景を読み解きながら、そのリサーチで出会った人たちの個人史まで内包したインスタレーション作品を展開しています。また、リサーチを異なるバックグラウンドを持つ人たちと共有し作品制作を行い、その過程をテキストやトークなどで公開・アーカイブするまでのプロジェクトも行っています。
この度ACACでは、松本美枝子を迎え、2021年5月から2022年度に開催予定の展覧会までの長期レジデンスプログラムを開催します。青森での滞在制作は、断続的に行われ、地質学のリサーチを中心に青森の土地や歴史を再考していきます。延べ3か月間、長期的・分散的な滞在制作を通して、積み上げられるリサーチと出会う人との関係性が創作の深化に反映され、積層される様子も楽しみにしていただけたら幸いです。

    MATSUMOTO Mieko　

    写真家、アーティスト。人々の日常、人間や自然の「移動」をテーマに、写真とテキスト、映像による作品を発表している。近年では「メゾン・ケンポクの何かはある」（2018ー）等、活動拠点の茨城でリサーチ過程を共有しながらプロジェクトを展開し、地域に場を開くことにも力を注いでいる。主な展覧会に個展「ここがどこだか、知っている。」（ガーディアン・ガーデン、東京、2017年）「茨城県北芸術祭」（茨城、2016年）、ヨコハマ・パラトリエンナーレ（横浜、2020年）など。著書に写真詩集『生きる』（共著：谷川俊太郎、ナナロク社、2008年）など。

In her work, Matsumoto has long expressed the social landscape and those affected by it through the figures of the people closest to her. In recent years, she has made installations that decipher the geological and historical backgrounds of different areas and encompass the personal histories of people she meets during her research. She conducts her research together with people from different backgrounds, publishing and archiving the process in the form of texts and talks.
The Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC) is pleased to welcome Mieko Matsumoto for a long-term residency program from May 2021 until the Spring 2022 exhibition. Her extended residency in Aomori will be conducted over a decentralized, intermittent three-month period and will focus on geological research that reexamines the land and history of Aomori The audience can look forward to seeing how her creative practice reflects layers of research and the relationships she forms with local residents throughout this long-term residency.

    Photographer and artist. Matsumoto presents photographic, text, and video works based around the theme of movement in nature, humanity, and people’s daily lives. In recent years, she has launched projects such as ,There Is Something About Maison Kenpoku (2018-), sharing her research process in Ibaraki Prefecture, where she is based. She organizes and runs Maison Kenpoku, a project focused on opening spaces in the community. Her recently exhibitions include Mieko Matsumoto Photography Exhibition: I know where here is. (Guardian Garden, Tokyo, Japan, 2017), KENPOKU ART (Ibaraki, Japan, 2016).
