Wood print workshop by FURUSAKA Haruka was held on 11th and 12th March.
Furusaka has been visited the village of Sami in Norway since 14 years ago, and interested in their attitude for the nature. Recently she focus on their tools and the words and make wood print works.
In this workshop, Furusaka set the program which focus on how Aomori people live in the snow, and think it together with the participants.
First, she showed the photos of her residency in Sami village.
The participants brought the photos of the snow tools.
Tried to share the photos and stories.
We could guess that Aomori people are able to enjoy the snow from the partisipants’ stories.
Then, the participants thought about how they use/used the tools.
Then, imagine/ remember what the family or friends said when they used the tool.
After that, started the sketch.
Then draw on the wood,
And start carving.
On the second day, started the printing.
They used the black and choose one color from blue, yellow and pink..
After finished printing, get together everyone’s works.
Wrap the works by special paper which is printed the words they found on 1st day.
